British luxury design house Mulberry has hired fashion stylist Katie Grand as its creative director.
She joins following her work with Mulberry design director Stuart Vevers over the past year on collections across all lines for the brand. Vever’s last collection for Mulberry will be autumn/winter 2008.
In June, Mulberry announced that Vevers was leaving to join luxury goods brand Loewe as creative director.
Grand will oversee the design of Mulberry's men's and women's clothing, bags and small leather goods. Her first full collection for the brand will be spring/summer 2009. Grand said that she will further develop the label's new fashion focus, while building on its traditional luxury values.
A well-known figure in fashion, Grand became a founding member of the British style magazine Dazed& Confused in 1994, where she was fashion director for five years until she took over the same role on The Face. In 2000, she launched Pop magazine, where she remains editor in chief.
Mulberry posted a profit hike of 8.5 per cent to£6.7 million for the year to March 31. Sales for the year rose 4 per cent to£45.1 million.
