Mydeco.com, the homewares and furniture aggregator website, is transforming itself into a fully fledged retailer when it launches a transactional site later this month, Retail Week can reveal.

Mydeco will run the transactional site separately from its existing affiliate site, which will become mydecomarketplace.com.

The existing site generates 1m hits a month and partners with 1,500 retailers, offering 3m products, but at present all transactions are handled on the partner retailers’ websites, including John Lewis, Argos and Marks and Spencer. Mydeco then takes a cut of the sale.

The etailer’s yet-to-launch transactional site will feature products from 40 small boutiques and more than 50 designers. The homewares brands involved will fulfil orders, but all items will be packaged in Mydeco branding.

Mydeco chief executive Nicole Vanderbilt told Retail Week the new site will eventually bring in more revenue than the existing one. She wants to offer customers “things they wouldn’t be able to find easily” otherwise.
