In his new role, Livingston will oversee the 'commercial vision' for the business, focussing on refreshing and developing Wyevale's product range 'to provide the highest quality retail proposition for its customers', said the company.
Livingston, 38, has joined from DIY retailer B&Q, where he had been working as trading director since 2000.
He was a key member of the team that turned around the showroom category, which led to substantial increases in sales and margin. His category had a significant impact on the growth of B&Q during those years, said Wyevale.
In his B&Q role, Livingston developed the strategy, led the development of both the commercial team and the supply base and relaunched all the product offerings with a high level of innovation.
'Andrew's appointment, along with the recent appointments to strengthen our operational management team, demonstrates we are strongly committed to being a best-in-class retailer within the UK garden centre sector,' said Wyevale chairman Jim Hodkinson.
