Online grocer Ocado is to begin delivering into the south east of England and South Wales next year after acquiring a distribution centre near Bristol.
The retailer said the centre will enable it to serve 1.5 million households in the Bristol, Bath, Cardiff and surrounding areas.
Ocado chief financial officer Andrew Bracey said the centre will create around 100 jobs. “We expect it to be operational in March of next year,” he said. “We are delighted to be coming to the Bristol area.
The Bristol centre follows plans revealed earlier this month for a big fulfilment centre at Birch Coppice Business Park at Dordon in North Warwickshire.
Ocado, which earlier this year listed on the stock market, sells more than 20,000 product lines including Waitrose and John Lewis-branded goods.
