Furniture and homewares e-tailer Mydeco.com has launched an outlet site for clearance stock and products from defunct retailers to lure cash-strapped shoppers.

The site, called Mydeco Outlet, launched this week offering exclusive bedroom furniture from collapsed retail chain MFI. It is selling MFI’s spring/summer stock at a 60 per cent discount. Retailer Marks & Spencer has also signed up to sell its clearance stock.

Mydeco founder and chief executive Brent Hoberman said: “Our new outlet section specialises in clearance and returned furniture, meaning you now don’t have to search out remote warehouses to find these great deals. The MFI ranges are massively discounted and this adds to our range of offer.”

He added: “We make it easy for people to get all the best information from every aspect of the homewares world.”

Mydeco was launched in February last year by Hoberman, the co-founder of Lastminute.com. It now features 2 million products from 770 retailers.

The site sells and links to other retailers’ online operations and has built a community of interior design specialists to create and share their room designs online. It has 50,000 members so far.

Mydeco joins a growing number of e-tailers to offer outlets on their sites, including Net-a-Porter and Asos, which hope to attract customers with discounted offers.
