Sir Stuart Rose becomes chairman of etailer Duvet & Pillow Warehouse

Rose joins the bed and bath etailer as the business aims to rebrand and grow its sales from £12m to £50m in the next four years.

The appointment represents Rose’s fifth chairmanship to accompany his responsibilities at retailers Ocado, Fat Face, Blue Inc and dental group Oasis Healthcare.

Rose is also on the board at South African retailer Woolworths Holdings and Swiss pallet maker RM2, as well as holding advisory roles to HSBC and private equity firm Bridgepoint.

However, last week he gave up his non-executive position on property firm Land Securities’ board.

Following Rose’s appointment, Duvet & Pillow Warehouse will rebrand as Soak & Sleep and relaunch its website in early 2014.

Rose said: “I was impressed by the brands focus on developing products using the highest quality materials, their outstanding customer service and competitive pricing, as a result of cutting out waste and compressing the supply chain.

“This was a business opportunity which presented me with the chance to add real value and improvement to help turn the brand into a £50 million business.”

Duvet & Pillow Warehouse chief executive Charlie Hunt said: “Stuart will work closely with me to develop tighter processes and develop our brand strategy. At present we’ve positioned Duvet and Pillow Warehouse as a disruptive business in a sleepy sector.”

The etailer has grown its sales from an annual turnover of £64,000 in 2007 to a current turnover of £12m, employing 19 staff in its Guildford headquarters.
