Christmas hamper and corporate gift voucher specialist Park Group has posted interim figures for the six months to 30 September 2009 up 6% on the same period last year and reported orders for Christmas 2010 “well ahead of last year at this stage”.
Revenues on continuing operations increased to £34.2 million (2008: £32.3 million) and the operating loss (before finance income and taxation) reduced by 13% to £4.7 million (2008: loss £5.3 million).
Finance income received was £500,000 compared with £1.8 million in 2008 and total cash balances peaked at £120 million (2008: £124 million).
Park pointed out that its business is generally seasonal and the first half of the year is traditionally loss making with the bulk of annual revenues generated in the second half.
The company said that compared with the same period in 2008 corporate voucher sales were up 5%, new business was up over 30% and that the online business continued to grow strongly.
Park Group chairman Peter Johnson added: “Our corporate business continues to gain market share and early responses to our Christmas 2010 recruitment campaign are encouraging, with orders well above those received at the same time last year.”
