Aldi has appointed a new chief financial officer for the UK and Ireland, a newly created role for the grocer.
Hayleigh Lupino will join Aldi later this year when she leaves her current role as chief financial officer at pub group Marston’s, where she held different senior leadership roles for over 20 years.
She is due to stay in her current role until October, to ensure a smooth transition once a successor is found.
The new appointment follows a board restructure at Aldi, as it has created two chief operating officer roles and a chief commercial officer role.
The raft of hirings arrive as Aldi is investing £650m into store openings this year, including nine in London.
The supermarket will also pay store staff at least £12.75 an hour and £14.05 within the M25 from this month, with further pay rises expected in September.
Aldi UK & Ireland chief executive Giles Hurley said: “Hayleigh joins our national board as we deliver our £650m investment plan this year, opening new stores and further improving our operations to continue bringing great-quality products at unbeatable prices to millions of households across the UK.
“Her extensive experience will be invaluable as we continue to grow and invest in Britain.”
