Amazon is offering permanent staff at some of its UK locations an extra £50 a week if they turn up to work on time during periods of peak demand.
The business plans to reward workers who have 100% attendance on all scheduled workdays, excluding time taken off for sickness linked to disability or Covid-19. The bonus will be offered to staff at sites across the UK, including warehouses in Durham and Gateshead.
Amazon said the bonus would help it meet current levels of demand and prepare for the crucial Christmas trading period.
An Amazon spokeswoman said: “We are currently offering an attendance bonus at a number of locations to permanent associates to support our summer demand and help us prepare for the festive season ahead.”
Last week, the ecommerce giant started offering a £1,000 joining bonus to new warehouse workers.
Earlier this week, Amazon launched a major recruitment drive across the globe. It plans to bring in 55,000 new staff across its operations, including 2,500 people in corporate and technology roles in the UK.
