Boots has snapped up Aldi’s marketing director Adam Zavalis as its new director of brand and communications.
Zavalis, who has been Aldi’s UK marketing boss since 2013, will take up his new role at Boots on February 25.
He will report to Boots UK and ROI marketing director Helen Normoyle in his new role and be tasked with driving the strategic and creative marketing activities across the retailer’s customer facing channels, including social.
Speaking about his appointment, Normoyle said: “I’m delighted to welcome Adam to Boots.
“He brings a lot of valuable experience to the role, and as we celebrate the 170th year of Boots this year I, and my colleagues, look forward to working with him to take this amazing brand into the future.”
Zavalis’ appointment comes shortly after Boots poached Tesco’s convenience boss Tracey Clements and former strategy director David Hobbs as chief operating officer and UK trading director respectively, as revealed by Retail Week.
In December the health and beauty titan unveiled plans for a cost-cutting drive which will aim to save £800m in three years.
