Clarks has announced its chief executive Peter Bolliger will retire next year.
Bolliger joined the shoe specialist in 1994 and has headed up the business as chief executive since 2002.
A search is now underway to appoint a successor.
Clarks chairman Peter Davies said that Bolliger had made an enormous contribution to the shoe specialist and had been key in modernising the company and driving its international retail business.
“In the year before he became CEO, world wide sales were £937m and pre-tax profits £46.8m and in the year to January 2009 we announced sales of £1,122m and pre-tax profits of £86.8m. This is a tremendous testament to Peter’s skill, professionalism and passion for the Clarks brand,” Davies added.
