Dixons ecommerce director Jeremy Fennell has been promoted to the role of Carphone Warehouse managing director, replacing Graham Stapleton.
Stapleton was Carphone Warehouse’s chief executive and is now executive chairman of the group’s new US venture Sprint Connect, which was unveiled last week.
Stapleton will work alongside Fennell over the next six months to ensure a smooth transition. Fennell will continue to lead the Travel and Harrods businesses for Dixons Carphone, but his ecommerce responsibilities will be handed to group chief commercial officer Steve Ager as well as Stuart Ramage, who will become Dixons ecommerce director.
Vic Self, currently online director at Carphone Warehouse, will also take on an expanded role to define the future for the ecommerce platforms across both brands.
Fennell has been at Dixons for 14 years, including a stint at the retailer’s successful Nordics business. He began his Dixons career on the shop floor at Currys in Banbury.
Fennel said: “Dixons Carphone is going through an incredibly exciting time right now, positioning ourselves as the destination retailer for the connected world, for which mobiles are the vital remote control.
“Carphone Warehouse is a strongly performing business and I feel privileged to be working with such an experienced and committed team. I hope to bring everything I’ve learnt from my 14 years of experience with Dixons as we continue to grow and develop our customer offer even further.”
