Entertainer CEO and former John Lewis director Andrew Murphy and retail expert Mary Portas are among the industry names recognised in the new year honours list.
Andrew Murphy, who recently took the top job at toy retailer The Entertainer, previously spent 30 years at John Lewis and was awarded an OBE for his services to the British retail industry.
Murphy joined John Lewis straight from university and worked his way up from the shop floor in Aberdeen to become the chief operating officer of the partnership.
Mary Portas was also honoured with an OBE for services to business, broadcasting and charity.
Founding chair of the British Beauty Council, and an adviser to the British Fashion Council, Jane Boardman was given an OBE for services to fashion and beauty.
