The great-grandson of John Spedan Lewis who was also the partnership’s former chief finance officer has joined Oak Furnitureland, Retail Week can reveal.
Patrick Lewis, great-grandson of the founder of the department store chain, is to join Oak Furnitureland as its new finance boss.
Lewis was chief financial officer of the John Lewis Partnership for six years before stepping down from the role and going on leave in December 2020.
Lewis spent more than 26 years at the group in various senior leadership roles, including three years as managing director of partnership services and four years as supply chain director.
He will replace Oak Furnitureland’s outgoing finance chief Emily Tate who has spent four years in the job.
Oak Furnitureland CEO Alex Fisher told Retail Week: “We are delighted to have appointed Patrick Lewis as CFO of Oak Furnitureland. Patrick joined the business on July 22 and brings with him a wealth of retail experience.
“Patrick will play a critical role in the company as we look to accelerate our strategy to make Oak Furnitureland even more accessible to a wider customer base and drive growth and brand awareness in the market.
“Patrick’s appointment follows the departure of Emily Tate as CFO after nearly four years in the role. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Emily for her positive contribution to the business and wish her the very best for the future.”
The move will put Lewis on the board alongside Oak Furnitureland’s chair, former Sainsbury’s chief executive Mike Coupe, who joined in 2021.
