Ella d’Amato has left her role as the chief commercial and marketing officer at online marketplace Notonthehighstreet to join consumer-focused investment and innovation firm True.
Retail Week can reveal that d’Amato, who held the role with NOTHS for almost five years, will become a portfolio MD, chief marketing officer and board member at True.
She will support True’s portfolio of consumer brands including women’s loungewear company Hush, kidswear label Frugi and cycling brand Ribble.
A spokeswoman for True said: “Ella’s most recent roles at NOTHS, during a period of rapid growth and while under private equity ownership, mean that d’Amato is uniquely placed to deliver the commercial acumen that is sensitive to the needs of growing brands with investor-backing, as well as the experience to support the development of True’s own brand proposition.”
”Additionally, as Notonthehighstreet is a purpose-driven business, d’Amato comes to True with the mindset of ‘doing business for good’ – a mantra that True’s co-founders, Matt Truman and Paul Cocker, have ingrained into their own business.”
D’Amato said: ”Helping businesses to grow the right way has become my passion and I am excited to work alongside such an ambitious and growing team.”
Cocker added: “In Ella, we have been lucky to find a leader with a unique blend of commercial and marketing acumen, and loads of personality, whose values also align with True’s – to use business as a force for good. This combination of skills and attributes will benefit not just our portfolio businesses immensely but our own brand too.”
True recently raised a new £275m private equity fund and has become one of only a few investment firms globally to achieve B Corporation status.
A spokesperson for Notonthehighstreet said: “Ella has been a huge part of the NOTHS team for almost five years, and has made an immeasurable contribution to building the brand we love, helping to nurture our base of 5000 small business partners and building a team of superstars that will help take the company even higher.
“We wish her all the luck in her new role, and know she’ll do an amazing job helping other emerging companies to grow.”
The online marketplace’s revenue rose by more than half in 2020, with the platform adding 500 new sellers and almost half a million new customers. It was bought by American investment firm Great Hill Partners in February.
Leanne Osbourne will take over as chief commercial officer. She was most recently the commercial director and before that was trading director and product and inspiration director.
The spokesperson added: “We’re delighted that Leanne Osborne is now, deservingly, our CCO after nine years with Notonthehighstreet. Her progress through the business means she has intimate knowledge of the partner experience, our brand and our strategic direction.”
