Game has hired Tom Devine as regional managing director of the UK and northern Europe.
Devine replaces from Martyn Gibbs, who steps down from Game on July 29 “to further his career in other areas”.
Devine joins from Mobilephones Direct where he was managing director. Previously he spent six years at Vodafone, holding various roles including two years running their 400 UK stores, and latterly as director of consumer sales.
Devine will report into Game group chief executive Ian Shepherd, taking responsibility for the UK, Eire, Scandinavia and the Czech Republic.
Shepherd said: “We are very pleased to welcome Tom. He brings huge energy and expertise to our Group, and will focus on delivering key areas of our strategy. Our dedicated teams across Europe are rapidly adapting their specialist services to meet the changing needs of gamers, and Tom will be responsible for leading their success.”
“I am very grateful to Martyn for his contribution to our businesses over the past 8 years, and the team and I wish him the very best for the future.”
Tom Devine said: “I am delighted to be joining at this exciting time. The GAME and Gamestation teams have a great reputation, and are in an excellent position to deliver a new style of multi channel games retailing. I believe their strategy is strong, and I’m looking forward to joining the team on their pioneering journey.”
Game said its internal structure will be “revised to fully align our teams with our strategic programmes”, including moving the UK marketing team to join the online and CRM teams, which will all report into chief marketing officer Dave Hughes.
