Game will appoint existing board member John Jackson as its chairman, following the resignation of David Hamid after a five-year tenure.
Jackson has been on the Game board, in the role of senior independent non-executive director, since June 2014.
He was formerly chairman of business consultancy Grow and also holds board positions at Playtech and Wilkinson Hardware.
He was previously group chief executive at Jamie Oliver Holdings and is a former group director at Virgin and managing director of The Body Shop.
Hamid will step down after Game’s AGM in January 2017. He was chairman of Game since 2012, with his tenure including its 2014 float.
Jackson said: “Game has achieved much despite challenging markets over David’s tenure as chairman. During his time, he has ensured the group has maintained a strong focus on its strategic development.
“Good progress has been made but there is still much more that we can achieve. I’m looking forward to working with Martyn and the management team as chairman.”
Game recently hired chief customer and marketing officer Guy Lister from Office as its chief operating officer.
