Go Outdoors has hired former Tesco man Chris Morgan as its new finance boss.
Morgan’s last role was as chief financial officer at Focus DIY, prior to which he spent 16 years at Tesco, where he rose to the position of finance boss of its Czech Republic and Slovakian businesses.
Morgan will have responsibility for finance, IT and logistics at the growing outdoors retailer and joins its board. He replaces David Hanney who leaves Go Outdoors after six years in March.
Go Outdoors chief executive John Graham said: “Chris is another excellent addition to our team of seasoned executives. We now have a great opportunity to make Go Outdoors not only the largest outdoors company in the UK but a major player in Europe.”
The 40 store retailer has hired several former Tesco directors to join its management team. Former commercial director at the grocer Colin Holmes became the outdoor specialist’s chairman last April, taking over from John Lovering, after private equity firm 3i took a significant minority stake in the retailer.
Tesco category director Dan Quinn joined Go Outdoors last November as its commercial director, taking a seat on its board.
