Almost half of Peacocks’ head office staff have been made redundant after the value clothing retailer collapsed yesterday.
The 249 redundancies at the Cardiff-based office brings the total staff number at Peacocks down to 9,351.
There are now 266 staff remaining at head office.
No store closures have been announced by administrator KPMG.
KPMG joint administrator and restructuring partner Chris Laverty said: “It is with regret we have made 249 redundancies at Peacocks’ head office in Cardiff, which follow a commercial review of the staffing levels of the business.
“No stores have been closed and will continue to operate as normal whilst we actively search for a buyer for the business.”
The retailer fell into administration yesterday when negotiations with creditors, spearheaded by chief executive Richard Kirk, collapsed.
