Mothercare is to strengthen its senior management team with the appointment of two new directors.

Simon Calver, who joined Mothercare as chief executive in February, has appointed Philippe Dayraud from French clothing chain Pimkie to be its global product and sourcing director, the Evening Standard reported.

Jude Bridge will join in December as global brand and marketing director from Save the Children.

The hires follow Calver’s appointment of former Sainsbury’s executive Nick Henwood as director of retail operations last month.

Calver unveiled a three year plan to improve stores, customer service and new product development in May for the struggling retailer, which suffered losses of £102.9m over the 53 weeks to 31 March.

Korn/Ferry Whitehead Mann placed Dayraud and Bridge, it is understood.
