Global retail consultancy Planet Retail has hired Helen Slaven as managing director.
Slaven takes up her position on September 2 and joins from retail software firm Micros Systems, where she was senior vice-president, retail for Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
At Planet Retail she has been charged with delivering the business’s global growth strategy by exploring new and existing markets.
Slaven will also aim to help realise synergies between Planet Retail and sister business WGSN, the fashion and retail trend forecasting service, and “play a central role” in product development for both businesses.
WGSN-Planet Retail chief executive Julie Harris said: “I’m delighted to welcome Helen on board at such an important time for the business, as we continue to grow our customer volumes and extend our reach into new markets.
“With a proven track record in developing successful growth strategies and an enviable network of contacts in the industry, Helen has the right blend of skills and experience to help lead the Planet Retail and WGSN team as we accelerate our growth, and launch new retail analytics tools to our retail clients.”
Slaven has also worked at IBM UK and BT Expedite.
Slaven said: “Planet Retail is an exciting global business with huge growth potential, and I look forward to working closely with Julie and the team to build on the success of the current services, and to provide clients with an even greater degree of knowledge, confidence and decision-making power.”
