Debenhams chief executive Rob Templeman has been appointed non-executive chairman of gambling company Gala Coral.

Templeman, who has taken up the role with immediate effect, replaces incumbent chairman Neil Goulden.

Templeman joined Debenhams as chief executive in 2003.

The department store chain last month reported a 7.1% rise in operating profit to £196.1m during the year to August 28, helped by a strong performance from its own brand Designers at Debenhams ranges.
