Shop Direct has launched another round of redundancies across its retail, people and finance teams, Retail Week can reveal.
The online retailer is understood to have axed its entire employee engagement team, including director of employee relations and engagement Colin Watt.
Home and living buying director Sara Lomax is also understood to have left the etailer.
A Shop Direct spokesman told Retail Week: “We announced plans in July to reshape our executive board as the first step towards better aligning the way we work to the way our customers shop.
“As the next step, we have made some changes in how our teams across retail, people and finance are structured. As a result, a small number of colleagues will be moving on from Shop Direct over the coming months.”
The retailer did not disclose the total number of redundancies being made as a result of the restructure.
Retail Week understands director of investor relations Will MacLaren has also left the business but that his exit is not related to the redundancies.
Job cuts
This is the latest round of job cuts at Shop Direct in recent months, which unveiled plans to shut three of its fulfilment centres in a bid to further automate its supply chain in April, putting 2,000 roles at risk.
Many senior executives have left the business. Retail technology and data director Jon Rudoe departed in July following a board reshuffle, while former executives Jonathan Wall and Kenyatte Nelson were both snapped up by Missguided.
Shop Direct appointed Henry Birch as chief executive in March, succeeding Alex Baldock.
