The Co-operative Food has bolstered its senior team with the appointment of a Tesco veteran as trading director and the addition of a new customer change director.
The mutual has hired former Tesco commercial for group procurement Michael Fletcher, who has also been commercial director at the top grocer’s Malaysian business. He will replace Co-op commercial director for buying and marketing Mike Osmond.
The Co-op has also hired former marketing consultant and Dunnhumby executive Ian Ayling as customer change director.
The Co-operative Group chief executive for retail Steve Murrells said: “This is an exciting time for The Co-operative, as we embark on a new long-term strategic plan to drive the business forward.
“Our initial focus on doing the basics better is already paying dividends in terms of sales, and these appointments bring a wealth of new experience and leadership to help maintain this momentum.
“The new appointments will be instrumental in delivering our long-term strategy, and will help shape the future direction of The Co-operative Food.”
