The Original Factory Shop has appointed recent Topps Tiles boss Matt Williams as its executive chairman as chief executive Emma Fox exits for a new role.
The value department store chain’s chief executive Emma Fox has been appointed boss of wine merchant Berry Bros & Rudd, where she will take the helm next month.
Her remit will be divided between chief financial officer Ian Williams and Phil Briggs, who has been promoted from chief merchandising officer to managing director.
Williams and Briggs will take on enhanced responsibilities in their respective roles and “jointly take on operational control of the business on a day-to-day basis”.
Both will report into Matt Williams, who stepped down as chief executive of Topps Tiles in May.
Williams will act as executive chair at The Original Factory Shop, succeeding New Look chair Alistair McGeorge, who will be stepping down as chair of the value department store chain after four years with the retailer.
Williams said: “I am excited to be taking on the role of executive chairman at such a pivotal time in the businesses strategy. Having formerly been on the board as a non-executive director, I believe the business is well placed to cement a unique position in the value retail sector and has strong growth potential.
“I am looking forward to working with the team in a wider capacity and would like to congratulate Phil and Ian on their new roles and enhanced responsibilities.
“Since reopening The Original Factory Shop stores we have recommenced rental payments to all landlords and have been encouraged by the initial sales performance. We look forward to continuing to bring many more branded bargains to our local communities.”
