DIY retailer Wickes has appointed Andy Morrison to the newly created position of chief operating officer to drive the retailer’s growth plan.
Morrison takes up the position on January 1 and will retain his present position of managing director of Wickes’ sister company Tile Giant.
Wickes managing director Simon King said: “Andy will be responsible for operational excellence within Wickes as the business drives forward with its growth strategy, ensuring there’s a sharp focus on building and enhancing Wickes’ core strengths, all of which will reinforce and support my leadership as managing director.”
King added that Tile Giant “continues to enjoy success” under Morrison’s leadership.
Morrison picks up the reins from Alan Morris, who had been “providing leadership and continuity” in the retail director role since April when Martin Roberts stood down, according to a Wickes spokeswoman. Morris, who has been with the business 30 years, resumes his role of operations director. The chief operating officer role has replaced that of the retail director position.
Last week parent Travis Perkins revealed flat like-for-likes in its third quarter across its consumer arm, which largely comprises Wickes, due to the “challenging” market.
