Entertainment e-tailer Play.com has launched its own ticket-selling service.
The service allows sellers to place tickets for music, sports and arts, and allows buyers to purchase tickets without postage or packaging costs or commission charges.
No payments are made to the seller until after the event to prevent the risk of buying fraudulent tickets.
In the first 24 hours of the service launching, more than 500,000 tickets were listed for sale for over 25,000 different events.
Play.com founder Richard Goulding said: “This is a groundbreaking move. We now have the ultimate entertainment offering, separating us from the competition. You can now buy the ticket, the CD, the poster and the t-shirt from us.”
Last week Play.com extended its digital download store to include tracks and albums from all four major music labels in an MP3 DRM-free format.
