Poundland hires ex-WHS chief as trading director

Discount retailer Poundland has created the new position of trading director and recruited WHSmith’s former business unit director for books, Cathy Ferrier, to the post.

Poundland chief executive David Dodd said Ferrier would bring capabilities including range management and consumer trends prediction - skill sets he said were lacking at Poundland.

Ferrier will also take over some of Dodd’s trading responsibilities.
