Single-price value specialist Poundland is to recruit 2,000 temporary staff for the busy Christmas period.
Poundland, which has more than 400 stores, will be seeking additional staff for most of its shops.
Jobs will also be available at 10 pop-up stores, opening over the next two months in time for the Christmas period.
Poundland chief executive Jim McCarthy said: “Christmas is a really busy time for Poundland and we’re thrilled, especially when employment figures are so low, that we can offer even more people a job over the festive period.
“Last year approximately 30% of our temporary colleagues secured permanent roles in the business following the Christmas period.”
Most stores will start taking on temporary staff from October 1.
