Founded by Julian Metcalfe and Sinclair Beecham as an individual shop in 1986, sandwich shop chain Pret a Manger is now on nearly every major British high street. In mid-2019, Pret acquired British food and drink retailer EAT and, in response to growing consumer demand for more vegetarian and vegan options on the high street, planned to convert as many of EAT’s shops as possible to “Veggie Prets”.
