Primark, the value chain, has set its sights on opening its first store in a retail park.
Primark is believed to be in talks with Pete Winkelman, the chairman of football club the Milton Keynes Dons, about opening a store at a development near the club’s stadium.
The 240,000 sq ft retail park will be anchored by Marks & Spencer and is set to open in 2012. It has been funded by real estate investment manager Aviva Investors.
Until now, Primark’s preferred locations have included prime retail sites and shopping centres.
