Superdry and Abercrombie and Fitch fashion brand Hollister are eyeing stores on famous shopping destination Regent Street.
Both brands are understood to be interested in the store currently occupied by National Geographic, which opened in 2008.
However, a spokeswoman for National Geographic told Retail Week that it does not want to exit the store, adding that it performs well.
“It’s on one of the best commercial streets in the world,” she said, adding that National Geographic is hunting for more stores in Spain, but will not be adding to its portfolio in the UK at present.
Superdry and Hollister are also both thought to be among those retailers vying to move in to the Aquascutum store on the street. Aquascutum is looking for alternative premises on more upmarket streets, such as Bond Street or Sloane Street.
Other retailers eyeing the Aquascutum store include Harvey Nichols, for its Beauty Bazaar concept, according to the Independent on Sunday.
Hollister has 19 stores across the UK but does not yet have a presence in central London, although it has a shop at Westfield London in White City. The retailer normally favours opening in shopping centres rather than high streets.
Superdry already has one central London store, in Covent Garden.
