Fashion retailer Etam's UK business has plunged further into the red, but is seeing the green shoots of recovery thanks to better product.
The 210-strong UK chain, owned by French parent Etam Developpement, reported an operating loss of EUR19.9 million (£13.6 million) for the six months to the end of June, compared with a loss of EUR12.9 million (£8.8 million) last year.
However, Etam UK managing director Nick Paine confirmed the chain had swung into positive like-for-likes over the last two-and-a-half months.
He said a bolstered management team, including buying director Louise Koser, had helped distinguish the chain's ranges.
Its plus sizes, which make up 30 per cent of womenswear sales, are set for a revamp.
