I like the Boxpark idea of housing shops in shipping containers.

It would be even better if the containers were moved around the country.

It would make a lot of sense for brands with similar customers to come together and form a travelling retail circus that could pitch up in market towns or racecourses for a week of 'meet the brands you love ' .

E-commerce retailers and brands would love this as they could interact with customers in a quality way that could be a truly memorable experience for all involved.

Attendance would be by invite only and tickets would be sought after . There would be no problems of shoplifting, chugging or general criminality.

It would be retailing as an Event. It would me much more attractive to brands than shops. It would excite shoppers who are bored with the high street.

The brands would use their extensive email lists and social networking to promote the event.

Councils would be so desperate to regenerate their parishes, that they would beg the circus to come to their town to get the economic benefits.

No longer a sitting target for tax collection, brands would be valued by councils who would lay on free parking, grants, soft rent deals etc. in an attempt to induce the circus to come to town.

As for the high street, it will reinvent itself when the rent and rates drop to the market level. No amount of initiatives will change that.
