A brave move indeed,

apart from the significant cultural differences between both countries, that no business i know of has made work in retail, the USA market is highly volatile.

introducing new ideas from the UK will i strongly suspect require a change of management as Americans from my experience in more than one business genuinely believe that they are the best in the world and are not keen to take ideas on board from other countries. no matter what they say publicly.

without doubt this deal has many synergies however a large part of the strength of the JD format in the UK is down to the management team so the outcome i believe will be dependent on its ability to inspire and manage the USA team.
