this is disappointing news on 2 fronts.

if the allegations are true then i hope the punishment is severe.

of equal concern is why this privileged well known Labour politician who has made many accusations over a long period of time felt that he could abuse his parliamentary privilege to make this public announcement when 3 of our most senior judges who will have had all of the information made a decision to allow the injunction.

this privilege is meant for significant major issues and not to expose a citizen that will of course be subject to lawful investigation .

that will now be very difficult to achieve because of his announcement which he would well understand brings his name to front of the room.

by making this announcement his Lordship is telling the world at large that he neither trusts our Judiciary system or the police to complete their duties and somehow justice is better served by him.

frankly i think he did all of us a disservice as he could have quite easily waited to ensure that the information presented to him was factual as the injunction is not a judgement of whether crimes have been committed its a judgement that is often made to allow the authorities to complete there investigations without the interference of guilty by popular opinion .

it is assumed that parliamentary privilege means that the individual cant be sued etc which is correct however they can still be charged with a criminal offence so i hope for his sake that the allegations are entirely true but would ask him and those with this privilege to trust the system to act before using it .
