Freeport has opened the biggest outlet development in Europe in Lisbon, Portugal. Located on a 91 acre (37 ha) site in Alcochete, at the southern end of the Vasco da Gama bridge, the 1.3 million sq ft (111,480 sq m) development houses more than 200 retail units.
The project has a strong leisure element, with 38 restaurants, a 22-screen cinema, two nightclubs, and a children's entertainment centre. It also features an auditorium and staging for live entertainment, water features and underground and surface parking for 3,500 cars.
Retailers already committed on opening day included Adidas, Gant, Lee Cooper, Max Mara, Versace, Cacharel, Zara, Mango, Burberry, Lacoste, Pierre Cardin, Sixty Retail, Puma, Adolfo Dominguez, Miss Sixty, Pepe Jeans and Quiksilver.
