London Mayor Boris Johnson joined retail’s elite this week to promote Oxford Street’s traffic-free day, which will fall on Saturday December 6.

Marks & Spencer executive chairman Sir Stuart Rose, Jaeger chairman Harold Tillman, John Lewis Partnership chairman Charlie Mayfield and Liberty chief executive Geoffroy de la Bourdonnaye came together at Oxford Circus along with 30 Santa Clauses on scooters.

This week the Christmas lights were switched on at Regent Street and will be turned on for Oxford Street next week by pop band Sugababes with performances from the X-Factor finalists.
