Vintage 1980s toy the Rubik’s Cube is likely to be a Christmas bestseller, according to variety store group Woolworths.

Woolworths has included the puzzle in its Top 10 Toys list for this year, alongside more contemporary items associated with cinema blockbusters such as Indiana Jones.

Woolworths commercial director Steve Jebson said the popularity of modern brain-teasers such as Nintendo’s Brain Training has paved the way for a comeback for the Rubik’s Cube.

The Cube was last sold by Woolworths a decade ago, but has customers have increasingly been requesting it. Jebson said: “There won’t be many teenagers without one this year.”
