Sainsbury’s has appointed former Boots group IT director Rob Fraser to its operating board as IT director, replacing Angela Morrison, who leaves the grocer this summer after four years as IT and change director.
Fraser, who will join Sainsbury’s in the autumn, is currently vice president, consumer, technology & transport at the Computer Science Corporation.
He spent 10 years at Boots where he undertook a variety of IT roles including group IT director. He was also a member of the Boots executive committee and has worked for Rank Xerox and Marks & Spencer.
Sainsbury’s chief executive Justin King said: “Under Angela’s leadership our IT function has undergone considerable change, including the successful in-sourcing of IT back into the company in 2006, and the creation of an IT platform to support the future growth of the business.”
He added: “Rob brings many years of IT and retail experience to the role and he will be a great asset to Sainsbury’s and the company’s management team.”
Sainsbury’s operating board comprises King; chief financial officer Darren Shapland; trading director Mike Coupe; retail and logistics director Roger Burnley; customer director Gwyn Burr; company secretary Tim Fallowfield; convenience director Dido Harding; managing director non-food Luke Jensen; property director John Rogers; commercial services director Neil Sachdev and HR director Imelda Walsh.
