He replaces Darren Shapland (pictured), who has been appointed Sainsbury's chief financial officer. Carpetright chairman and chief executive Lord Harris said Kenyon 'brings with him a strong retail finance background, having had a variety of UK and mainland Europe roles at two large retailing groups over the past 11 years'.
Before joining Sainsbury's, Kenyon spent nine years at Kingfisher in a number of key financial roles, including finance director at Kingfisher Electricals in Paris. He was also involved in the integration of Castorama.
Carpetright is undergoing a period of change, both in its portfolio as the retailer experiments with a smaller store format, and at board level. Along with the departure of Shapland, Sir Harry Djangoly - a Carpetright director for 12 years - stepped down in March.
