Like-for-like sales orders were up 4 per cent for the first 17 weeks of the financial year.
Executive chairman Mike Browne said: 'This is an impressive performance and in line with our expectations as we continue to gain market share.
'The January Sale has been a successful trading period for ScS, despite losing a key trading day over the Bank Holiday period due to Christmas Day falling on a Sunday, and being up against strong comparatives in the prior Sale period. This has resulted in the anticipated slowdown in growth of like-for-like sales order intake since we announced our final results in November.'
The retailer opened five new stores on Boxing Day, which followed four shops opened in October last year. All are trading successfully, according to the retailer.
Browne added that ScS remains on track to open another eight stores during the financial year, bringing the store count to 84.
