Ebay has rolled out a dedicated section of its online marketplace called The Entertainment Shop to cash in on the resurgence of physical media.
The online retailer has launched the new product category hub across entertainment products ranging from vinyl records to comic books and video games.
The etail marketplace will have a weekly cycle of new releases on the platform with a variety of new and existing partners including MusicMagpie and Entertainment Alliance.
The launch of The Entertainment Shop follows a surge in demand for physical media items on eBay.
In the year to July 2017, eight million searches for vinyl records were made by shoppers on the online marketplace and an average of two records were sold per minute.
Searches for books, comics and magazines increased by 12 million during the period, while searches within the DVD, film and television categories jumped to over 65 million, with 13 DVD and Blu-ray discs bought every minute.
UK vice president Rob Hattrell, who succeeded Tanya Lawler in January, said: “We want to be the destination for physical media in the UK driven by best value, unrivalled inventory and competitive seller fees.
“The launch of The Entertainment Shop is a natural progression for eBay that will offer brands and sellers of all sizes the opportunity to capitalise on the UK’s enduring appetite for physical media.”
