Jeweller Theo Fennell has become the latest retailer to issue a profits warning as snow hit its Christmas sales.
Like-for-likes were down 7% for the month of December which the jeweller said would have a knock-on effect on its full year figures to the end of March. It anticipates full year results will be below market expectations.
The retailer said adverse weather conditions had “significantly reduced footfall” from high end domestic and international customers who were unable to travel to London, where it has the majority of its outlets, as icy conditions halted flights.
It said sales of higher end one-off pieces had suffered because of the shortfall of international customers.
The retailer experienced a good start to the festive period with like-for-likes up 22% in the first week of December, before the snow hit.
