Former Boots and Waitrose executive Robin Phillips has joined Kurt Geiger as its new director of digital, Retail Week has learned.
As previously revealed by Retail Week, Phillips stepped down from his role as director of omnichannel at Boots after two years with the business last December.
At the time, a spokeswoman for the health and beauty giant said Phillips “was keen to pursue a strategic digital role, and felt he had accomplished as much as he could do at Boots.”
Phillips, who previously spent six years at Waitrose where he worked his way up to become director of ecommerce, joined Kurt Geiger last month.
Star performer
Although the footwear sector has been struggling in recent years – with Jones Bootmaker rescued in a pre-pack administration deal, Brantano tumbling into administration and Clarks launching a wide-ranging review of its store portfolio amid falling profits – Kurt Geiger has proved one of the star performers in the industry.
In Kurt Geiger’s last full-year profits, covering the year to December 31, 2015, pre-tax profits doubled from £11.4m to £22.8m as total sales increased 11.9% to £281.6m.
Kurt Geiger, which is owned by European private equity group Cinven, is yet to respond to Retail Week’s request for comment.
