Matchesfashion.com has reported soaring sales and profits as it hailed rapid growth in its customer base.

The etailer said EBITDA soared more than five-fold to £19m, while sales surged 61% to £204m in the year ending January 31.

Both domestic and overseas markets registered strong years, with UK growth up 45% and rest of the world rising 80%.

Non-UK sales now account for 80% of online revenues.

Average order value grew 14% to £511, while it also enjoyed a 60% jump in new customers.

Online, sales spiked 73% and website visits hit 55m over the course of the year.

New office, new partnerships

The business, which is celebrating its 30-year anniversary after beginning as a West London boutique, also launched an on-demand 90-minute delivery service for the capital and moved into The Shard building, expanding office space by 40%.

Matches launched a string of new partnerships during the period, included events with Altuzarra, JW Anderson, Off White, Roksanda, Simone Rocha, Vetements and Zandra Rhodes.

Executive co-chairman and co-founder Tom Chapman said: “In recent years we have focused on building the foundations – of people, operations, and technology – to enable future growth, with a focus on driving an agile business at scale.

“The results demonstrate that we are now starting to deliver the return on the investment made.”
