Waitrose is to restructure its retail services division at head office, which offers support to its stores, to aid growth of its multichannel business with 200 positions under review.
The retailer began a review of positions held by staff in the 200-strong retail services division, which offers support including communications and operational help, last year and it is understood the review could conclude in the summer.
There could potentially be redundancies as part of the process, however, the first phase of the review studied 40 positions and no redundancies were made.
Waitrose said its partners have been involved in the process to “help us to shape how retail service will look”.
A Waitrose spokeswoman said: “Our long-term plans require us to be adaptable so that we can continue to deliver growth and offer the best experience to our customers now and in the future.
“We began a phased review of our retail services division last year, to ensure the operation is organised in a way that reflects how our business has grown and to enable us to maintain the enormously important support that our partners provide to branches.”
She added: “Some roles will change during this process and there will be opportunities for those affected by the review to be redeployed within the John Lewis Partnership.”
