Argos is preparing to push the button on its Black Friday event, which starts in earnest tomorrow and will run for a fortnight.
Although Argos remained tight-lipped on the specifics of its deals, it said there would be more than 60,000 products on offer across a range of toys, homewares and electricals during the period.
The Sainsbury’s-owned retailer said it also has some early Black Friday deals going live today.
Argos chief executive John Rogers described last year’s Black Friday as “the biggest and most successful shopping day ever” for Argos.
On Black Friday last year, the Argos website drew more than 12 million visits in less than 24 hours. And across the four-day Black Friday weekend, Argos delivered 263,000 products to 146,000 customers through its Fast Track delivery.
Rogers said: “We have been busy preparing for the Black Friday period for many months now, ensuring our digital channels, stores and distribution centres are all geared up in anticipation for high levels of demand.”
Argos’ Black Friday event will run until Cyber Monday, which it said was another “important day” for online shopping that falls around pay day for many.
Rogers added: “Black Friday and Cyber Monday have definitely changed how people shop for Christmas, with many using it for the initial burst of gift-buying in the festive season, whether they choose to shop in-store, online or by mobile.”
Earlier this week, electricals rival Dixons Carphone set the ball rolling on its longest Black Friday event.
Meanwhile, Amazon is planning to mark the Sale with a pop-up shop in London.
