Sainsbury’s is to move 150 staff from its central London head office to Coventry and Manchester after putting its Holborn office on the market.
The grocer is looking to lease the top two floors of its headquarters and relocate the HR and property divisions away from London, The Evening Standard reported.
The retailer’s IT department is also expected to be moved from Holborn, which houses 3,000 staff. No redundancies are expected.
Sainsbury’s told staff it intends to rent out the top two floors of its office but has advertised the whole building online as available for rent from 2014.
Sainsbury’s also plans to close its final-salary pension scheme and has launched a two-month consultation on pension changes.
A Sainsbury’s spokesman said: “The relocations have been designed to move the right people to the right place, whether that’s to enable growth, to move closer to similar functions or because of a changing business needs.”
