- Sales increased 28% in the 12 weeks to January 9
- First-time shoppers accounted for 73% of orders at its new London showrooms
- Digital sales up 38% following website launches in Germany and Ireland
Sofa.com unveiled a 28% increase in sales over the golden quarter, as first-time customers visited its new London showrooms.
The furniture etailer, which now has eight physical stores, said new shoppers accounted for 73% of orders of beds, chairs and sofas at its recently opened showrooms in Islington and Bankside.
Digital sales surged 38% in the 12 weeks to January 9, following website launches in Germany and Ireland.
Sofa.com chief executive Vince Gunn told The Times that the “strong results” are due to a number of changes made to the business over the past year.
“At the heart of our brand is a focus on world-class customer experience, online and in-store, and we have successfully emulated this in our new showrooms,” he said.
Expansion plans
The CBPE-owned etailer is set to become part of the furniture on Guildford high street, having agreed a 10-year lease with Savills for a former Austin Reed unit measuring 3,770 sq ft.
Its first Midlands outlet in Edgbaston is due to open soon.
Sofa.com, in the midst of continued international expansion, currently operates in 12 countries.
